As a school community, we draw upon the concept of 鈥榮afe base鈥 relationships. These are relationships that are predictable and unconditional and serve to elevate student voice, promote positive risk-taking and foster emotional safety.
鈥楽afe-base鈥 relationships are validating, which leads to the development of student mindsets such as 鈥淚 am respected and valued鈥 and 鈥淚 am safe and I can trust people here鈥. This in turn fosters a sense of belonging and ongoing connection amongst our educational community, which research indicates is predictive of future student wellbeing and whole-of-life outcomes.
